Critical Pedagogy
Too often teachers create a robotic environment in which students are made to be pure receivers of information and our discouraged from incorporating the curriculum into their schema according to personal experience. This setting is regulating our students’ autonomy, and in the case of traditionally marginalized populations in American society, hindering their opportunity to improve their social and economic conditions. Freire argued the “adapted” student as a negative submission to the world that the oppressors in education have created.
